US Supreme Court Rejects PT Appeal In Landmark Arkansas Case

In a case that has major national implications for maintaining and enforcing the boundaries between chiropractic and physical therapy, the US Supreme Court has declined to hear the appeal by the physical therapists in the case of Michael Teston vs. Arkansas Board of Chiropractic Examiners. In this case, a physical therapist in Arkansas was found to be performing "spinal manipulations," for which only chiropractors are licensed. After rigorous review by the Arkansas Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the defendant was found to be in violation of the Chiropractic Practice Act. The Arkansas Chiropractic Board levied a "civil penalty" of $10,000 following the determination that the chiropractic code had been violated.

An anti-chiropractic billboard paid for by the Chiropractic Stroke Victims Awareness Group

A highly offensive anti-chiropractic billboard that was unveiled on June 6, 2005 was covered up by the advertising company within 24-hours of the International Chiropractors Association’s (ICA) learning of its existence, following a storm of protest led by ICA leaders in that state. Reading “WARNING: Chiropractic Adjustments Can Kill or Permanently Disable You”, the offensive billboard was designed and paid for by an organization calling itself the “Chiropractic Stroke Victims Awareness Group.”

To most Americans, the concept of "nonprofit" goes hand-in-hand with trust. If a person or an agency isn't driven by money, they seem more likely to be trustworthy and unbiased. They should have the public's best interests at heart, right?

The American Medical Association (AMA) is a nonprofit agency whose mission is "to be an essential part of the professional life of every physician and an essential force for progress in improving the nation's health," according to the AMA's website. It makes you wonder, then, why the AMA gladly accepted huge sums of advertising fees from tobacco companies who advertised heavily in its flagship journal, JAMA, throughout the 20th century.

John W. Kinsinger, MD, est un anesthésiste de l'Oklahma, responsable de la creation du site web "Neck911USA.com", un site anti-chiropratique. Il entretient des liens étroits avec le Dr Stephen Barrett, responsable du site web "ChiroBase" , un autre site anti-chiropratique, et ami du Dr Katz. Dr. Kinsinger entretenait des liens avec l'association d'orthopractic, inventé de toute pièce par Katz, et du National Association for Chiropractic Medicine, une association mise sur pied par Katz.

En 1910, l ’AMA établit de nouveaux standards d’éducation en matière médicale

De 1910 à 1925, aux États-Unis, grâce aux règles établies par le "Flexner Report", l'A.M.A. (American Medical Association) et l'A.A.M.C. (Association of American Medical Colleges) éliminèrent la grande majorité des soignants médicaux, notamment les femmes et les noirs. Au nom de la soi-disant "science" et de la soi-disant "qualité" de la pratique médicale, on exigea des écoles de médecine qu'elles adoptent les recommandations du Flexner Report.
